“All religions lead to God”

The feel-good claim that sounds tolerant — but crumbles under logic and Scripture.

The common objection:
“All religions are basically the same. They’re different paths up the same mountain to God. Why say only Jesus saves? That’s narrow-minded and arrogant.”

1. Religions make contradictory claims — they can’t all be true

Christianity says Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). Islam says Jesus was a prophet but not God or crucified. Hinduism has many gods and reincarnation. Buddhism often has no personal God at all.

If one is true, the others must be false on key points. Saying “all lead to God” ignores the contradictions — it’s like saying all roads lead to the same city even when some go north and some south.

2. Pluralism is actually the arrogant view

Pluralism claims to know more than every religion: “You’re all partially right, but I’m the one who sees the full truth.”

That’s not humble — it’s saying every faith leader (Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha) was wrong or limited, but the pluralist has the superior insight. Christianity doesn’t claim to know more; it claims Jesus revealed the truth.

3. The exclusive claim of Jesus is loving, not narrow

If there’s only one way to escape a burning building, telling people “any door works” is cruel. Pointing to the real exit is love.

Jesus didn’t come to exclude — He came to die for everyone (John 3:16). The cross is the open door for all who will walk through it.

4. One name saves — Acts 4:12

Peter said this right after healing a man in Jesus’ name, facing the same leaders who crucified Him. The early church staked everything on this: Jesus alone saves because He alone died for sins and rose again.
